TASTING NOTES
The 2016 Lodi Petite Sirah has a beautiful dark purple color that leaves a gentle trail of color after giving the glass a swirl. The aroma jumps out of the glass with notes of fig jam, ripe cherry and fresh blackberry as well as hints of vanilla and toasted coconut. Dark black fruit flavors are balanced with supple tannins, dark chocolate and espresso flavors that linger on and on. The finish has flavors of sandalwood, dried currants, and brambly fruit notes.

WINEMAKER NOTES
As we continue to work with our Petite Sirah, we’re thrilled that the quality keeps getting better. We are very happy with the quality of fruit from the 2016 vintage as we showcase great, dark fruit and good balance. The grapes were picked very ripe once the berries showed a little dimpling and yields were naturally low in the vineyards which led to concentrated fruit flavors. Crushed in stainless steel tanks, we continue to use select strains of Bayanus yeast to ferment the wine dry at higher alcohol levels. We then aged these wines in a combination of French, American and just a touch of Hungarian oak. To soften the power of this Petite Sirah, we added some fruit-forward Tempranillo, Zinfandel and Merlot. The result is a beautiful beast of a wine.

FOOD PAIRINGS
This 2016 Petite Sirah pairs very well with sliced skirt steak over garlic mashed potatoes and oven roasted carrots, sausage pizza with caramelized onions and topped with fresh arugula, or a mushroom lasagna.
