TASTING NOTES
Opaque in color, this Petite Sirah bursts with aromas of muddle blackberries, fresh caramel, and smoky oak. At second swirl, there is a distinct tobacco leaf aroma with other subtle notes of dried vanilla bean, brambly blueberries and coriander seed finishing with an earthy Lodi terrior stamp. True to it’s varietal, flavors of intense blackberry, dried cherry and wild strawberries glide across the palate. The finish lingers back toward the earthy nuances of forest floor with a hint of mocha.

WINEMAKER NOTES
An excellent vintage for Lodi, 2015 proved to be a year of high wine quality especially for Petite Sirah. The yields were naturally lower producing smaller bunches with highly concentrated fruit. Sourced from a few lots in Lodi, the fruit was harvested in early October once the brix levels were around 27 degrees. Fermentations were performed with a combination of Bayanus yeast strains to ferment the wine dry at higher alcohol levels. We then aged these wines in a combination of French, American, and just a touch of Hungarian Oak with 70% new wood. To soften the power of this Petite Sirah, we added some fruit forward Tempranillo and Merlot from Clarksburg. Finally, a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon is added to increase the depth and complexity.

FOOD PAIRINGS
The go to wine for barbecue, pair this Petite Sirah with anything off the grill especially ribs or sausages. An alternate option could be soy marinated portabella mushroom caps grilled and served on a potato roll.
